Matt Ferro is a director, writer and producer, most recently a producer of the Frank Lowy documentary feature What Will Become of Us, selling out three consecutive nights of the 2019 Sydney Film Festival, subsequently the most attended film of the Jewish International Film Festival, with 26 packed screenings across Australia’s major cities. 


He is the producer of the Academy Award-winning visual effects of The Matrix and other blockbuster feature films such as The X-Files Movie, Alien: Resurrection, Titanic and Face/Off. In 2003 Matt, a native New Yorker, moved from Hollywood to Sydney, Australia to lead the digital development and production of the Academy Award-winning animated feature film Happy Feet, and has since made Australia his home. 


He is an executive producer of three series of original Australian television programming commissioned by NBCUniversal, has been nominated for an ATOM award and served four years as the managing director and vice president of the filmed entertainment division of General Media Inc., the Fortune 400 publishing giant. 


As a director, Matt has directed several TV series pilots including UK comedian Mark Watson’s “Rant Walk”; his “Sci Fi Tracy” 1999 image spot for the Sci Fi Channel’s rebranding campaign won the Audience Favorite award on the then-Sci Fi Channel and helped propel the series to win the Broadcast Media Award for best rebranding campaign that year; In 2016 his science documentary short film “The Scientist Who Wants to Reverse Extinctions” for ESPN films’ The Collectors series, showed publicly for the first time, ancient DNA being extracted from an extinct species and activated in a living embryo.
